Valuable Bafana experience for Masenamela

Kaizer Chiefs left back Punch Masenamela’s fine form for the Amakhosi during the 2010 – 2011 season has not gone un-noticed, the enterprising defenders fine club displays have been rewarded as he has been included in a 27 man Bafana Bafana touring party who will work together in the build up to South Africa’s crucial 2012 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game against Egypt in Cairo on June 5.



Masenamela and three other players the BIDVest Wits pair of Jayiya Bhongolwethu and Sifiso Myeni as well as Kermit Erasmus of SuperSport United have been called up by South Africa Coach Pitso Mosimane to train with the team so that he can have a closer look at them.



During a press briefing on Thursday Mosimane at the announcement of the squad to face the Pharoas Mosimane said that he was impressed by the Chiefs left back and as part of his development for the future, he believes that it will be beneficial for Punch to work with the Bafana team, Punch and the other three players will not feature in the game against the Egyptians.



Masenamela’s Amakhosi team mates goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune as well as the midfield duo of Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Siphiwe Tshabalala are part of the 23 man squad who will face the reigning African champions Egypt in a crucial Group G qualifying game on June 5th.



Khune and Tshabalala have featured in all three of South Africa’s qualifying games thus far while Letsholonyane has also played his part as Bafana have won two and drawn one of their games to this point.



Khune has managed to keep three clean sheets and will be looking to do like wise in Cairo, Bafana Bafana have moved up to 38th place in the latest Fifa rankings while Egypt who are currently at the bottom of Group G are two places ahead of them and occupy 36th spot.



Bafana Bafana will assemble in Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon before heading off to Rustenburg on Monday where they will hold a camp before departing for Egypt the following week.
