A cool and calm, Vladimir Vermezovic paid a glowing tribute to his players following a massive victory against rivals, Orlando Pirates at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

“Thank you to my boys,” said the Serbian addressing the media after a closely contested encounter.

“I think we played very well today against a very good team with a very good coach. They were tactically sound and created lot of problems for us.

At the end of the day we emerged as winners but for me the most important date is the 8 August when we play our first league game of the season against Santos,” he said.

Vermezovic believes that Chiefs can surprise Manchester City on Saturday, “We have great fans and I think I should also thank them for the massive support they have shown since we started our work. We are playing at home and Manchester City are visitors so we can beat them of course,” he said.

It is going to be tough but I believe we can beat them. They will be playing some of their biggest players on Saturday but we will all have eleven players on the field.”

The coach also explained the absence of striker Kaizer Motaung Jr., “K (Kaizer) contracted a virus and that was the reason why he was not part of the proceedings tonight,” he concluded.
