Isaacs, making his first start in 2010 was faultless and did not put his foot wrong as he kept opposition striker, Irwin Isaacs at bay. His tackling and superb positioning saw the Glamour Boys progressed to the quarterfinal of the Telkom Knockout, a competition they won in 2007 defeating Mamelodi Sundowns.
The two sides meet once more in the same competition this coming weekend and Isaacs and company will be hoping to progress to the last four.
“Dominic was fantastic for us this afternoon,” said a visibly delighted Vermezovic who watched the game from the stands as he was serving a one-match suspension.
“He got a couple of chances this season but due to injury he was out. It was only on Friday that we decided to take him along as he was struggling with a slight injury. He proved today that he can be one of the top defenders if he stays fit,” continued Vermezovic.
Vermezovic also praised the whole team for the effort, “We did not score but I was satisfied with what the players contributed in this victory. This was tight game and both teams were very organised. It is never easy to play Santos but at the end it took penalties to get the result we needed,” he added.
