Consumers ranked South Africa’s leading cellular network as the best performer in the telecommunications sector. Vodacom also scored higher than companies in the banking and long term insurance industries.
Moses Moeletsi, a Chief Director at the DTI on Friday announced the results of the survey which was conducted by the South African Satisfaction index in partnership with the Department.
According to the DTI, the study is aimed at encouraging competitiveness across industries and “is consumer-driven, objective, neutral and comparative”.
Vodacom achieved the highest proportions of satisfied customers across 27 measured critical drivers of customer satisfaction which include quality and efficiency of staff, general attitude of staff as well as updated customer information.
“It should be reassuring for our customers to know that not only are they dealing with South Africa’s best telecommunications company, but also a company ranked top in the country’s key service industries,” said Mthobi Tyamzashe, Vodacom’s Group Executive - Corporate Affairs.
Vodacom currently has 12.4-million customers of whom 10.6-million are in South Africa and 1.8-million spread across Tanzania, Lesotho, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique.
The company was also recently voted the “best IT/ Telecoms Corporate Citizen” in the inaugural Good Corporate Citizen index because of its investment in social upliftment projects that positively change people’s lives.
