Head Coach Vladimir Vermezovic believes that his charges could have come back with a positive result had they taken the chances they created at the game.

The Serbian was speaking to kaizerchiefs.com after the defending champions were dumped out of the Telkom Knockout following a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Platinum Stars.

“We created enough chances to win the game but it was not to be. This is something that I am going to address with the players this week as we turn our focus to the league programme.

“I congratulate Platinum Stars for proceeding to the next round of the competition. They gave us problems going forward. We were also not aggressive enough in the middle of the park.”

Vermezovic, who has won the Telkom Knockout twice in his tenure as the Coach at Kaizer Chiefs, paid a glowing tribute to Arthur Bartman, who pulled off outstanding saves to keep Chiefs in the game.

“He (Arthur Bartman) was unbelievable for us. He kept us in the game and all we needed to do was to take our chances up front.

Chiefs were forced to make a substitution at half time and defender Brent Lawler was replaced by Dominic Isaacs.

“It was a forced change as Brent complained of a calf muscle. He has been doing well and, like I said last week, I am pleased with the contribution of the younger players in the team. In fact I am satisfied with the commitment showed by the players.

“We will now go back to drawing board and work on our mistakes. We have a tricky fixture again against Platinum Stars this coming weekend and we should be ready to meet them,” said Vermezovic.

Chiefs meet Platinum Stars at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, 29 October, 2011 and kick-off for the game is at 20:15.
