Head Coach, Vladimir Vermezovic believes that 2011 has not been a ‘too bad’ for the Glamour Boys despite the failure to bring silverware to the Club’s coffers in Naturena.

The Glamour Boys finished 3rd in the league in May, qualified for the MTN 8 Cup final and are currently 3rd in the Absa Premiership.

“It was not too bad. We finished third in the league last season, but we were little bit unlucky because we were tied on points and only lost on goal difference.

“Overall, I think we progressed as a team and improved. At the start of the season we did well in the league but had a bad patch in cup competitions. We also did not have a good run in the league before playing Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus.

The Serbian dismissed the team was in crisis; “Look, in our job there are always good days and bad days. Unfortunately before Sundowns win, we were in a period of bad days, but generally I am enjoying life in South Africa.

He was also pleased with the progress of the youngsters; “Of course I am very satisfied with their progress this season. George finally started to play like I know he can play and i am very glad that this guy is part of the Bafana Bafana set up but I would have loved to see him and the likes of Lucky Baloyi and Mandla Masango in London for the Olympics. This would have helped their development and of course it would have benefited the team in a long run.

The Serbian also backed the decision for the Club to appoint Itumeleng Khune as a captain of the team; “Some people are born leaders and (Itumeleng Khune) is one of them. I didn’t need to tell him anything. He has been in the Club for a while and understands the culture and what we want to achieve. He was born to lead and he will do well as a captain,”

Vermezovic also expressed his gratitude to the supporters for their support throughout 2011; “Our supporters are amazing and it was nice when we arrived at the airport and they were there to welcome us. They travelled and filled the stadiums around the country in support of the team and we really appreciate this.

We have set clear objectives for 2012; among them to win the league and I would like to urge them to continue rallying behind the team through thick and thin. We are stronger when we work as unity and with our supporters backing the team as a 12th man; everything else is possible,”
