“This season was a mix bag for us,” reflects Kaizer Chiefs Reserves side Arthur Zwane. “We started slow due to the numerous changes to the team. A number of players were promoted to the first team, others were loaned out and some were released to grow elsewhere. We have only four players in this group that participated in last season’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge campaign.”
Zwane shared his thoughts ahead of this season’s final round of fixtures of the MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC). Kaizer Chiefs Reserves will tackle AmaZulu Reserves in an Asidlali festival at Umlazi’s King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday, 25 February.
“We did get on track at some stage though,” the Amakhosi coach adds. “However, at times sloppy defending and lapses in concentration caused us to lose some of the games that we should have won. But credit must go to the guys, they got their act together and we have been doing well in recent weeks.”
King Zwelithini Stadium Festival - Sunday, 25 February 2018
Maritzburg United Reserves vs Bloemfontein Celtic Reserves, 9:00
AmaZulu Reserves vs Kaizer Chiefs Reserves, 11:00
Golden Arrows Reserves vs Bidvest Wits Reserves, 13:00
“Overall, I am happy with our season,” Zwane continues. “We might finish in sixth position, which in my opinion is reasonable given our development plans. We will use the match against AmaZulu to plan already for next season and we will give a couple of guys a run to see how far they are.”
“All in all we are ready for the game against AmaZulu,” the Chiefs coach concludes. “We also look forward to the festival part of the event. Our boys are hungry and they want to make a mark in this last match of the 2017/2018 MultiChoice Diski Challenge.”
Amakhosi go into this tussle at the backdrop of an encouraging 4-2 win over Platinum Stars, while AmaZulu lost their last game 1-0 to Maritzburg United.
Having a ticket is required to gain entry. Free tickets will be available for collection at the stadium’s ticket office on Friday and Saturday, from 13:00.
