The Amakhosi touched down to a resounding welcome in Durban on Monday afternoon. The King Shaka Airport was a hype of singing and dancing by the Amakhosi faithful. Clad in their gold and black Amakhosi regalia and hoisting their Supporters Branch flags, from Inanda, Clermont, Cathedral and many other represented Branches, they came in their numbers to welcome their beloved Chiefs.
"Samke Zuma of the Cathedral Branch was over the moon on the arrival of her favourite Team in Durban, "I am here to support my Team. This is the countdown to the game tomorrow in Pietermaritzburg. I am very confident that we will stretch our unbeaten run in the league with another victory against Maritzburg United to make it 10 in a row. We are on roll and once again thank you to the guys, they are really making us proud," said Samke from Inanda.
Niki, Ntombi and Bongi from Clermont Supporters Branch were there, and they all praised the courage of Kingston Nkhatha. They told kaizerchiefs.com that they support all their players through thick and thin, and Nkhatha is showing the mental strength required at this level, "There were times when the fans booed Nkhatha and we stood by him, look now he is banging in goals for us. We cautioned the supporters against the booing via social media and at the stadium," said the trio, clad in the Chiefs' number 8 home jerseys, the jersey number used by Nkhatha at Chiefs.
The players were all appreciative of the support they received, as they posed for pictures with the gathered crowd and waved to the supporters as they got onto their waiting bus.
The mouth-watering Absa Premiership clash between Maritzburg United and Chiefs is scheduled at Harry Gwala Stadium, on Tuesday, 11th February 2014.
Kickoff is at 19:30
