“We enter this game as part of our quest to lift the trophy,” says Michelle Katsvairo about tonight’s Telkom Knockout clash against Maritzburg United. “The preparations went well this week. We have been working hard and with God's grace we will win this cup.”
Amakhosi will host the Team of Choice in a Telkom Knockout Last 16 fixture at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, 22 October (kick-off is at 20:15).
Katsvairo has shown sharpness since joining the Glamour Boys at the start of the season.
“The fitness trainer is working well with us,” the Zimbabwean striker adds after finishing the pre-match training on Friday afternoon. “We work as a team and I am happy to be among this group of players.”
Katsvairo furthermore confirms that “the morale is high in the camp and everyone is looking forward to a great display of football.”
“I want to do a good job for the team,” the striker vows. “I want to help the team win trophies.”
The only player confirmed out of contention for a place in the team is George Maluleka, who is serving a two match suspension. Keagan Buchanan, Lucky Baloyi and Enocent Mkhabela should fancy their chances when coach Steve Komphela announces his line-up.
Amakhosi recently beat Maritzburg 2-0 in a league match with Lorenzo Gordinho and William Twala scoring the goals.
Chiefs have won the Telkom Knockout trophy on three occasions since Telkom became sponsors of this competition in 2006 (in 2007, 2009 and 2010). That is more than any other PSL team.
Tickets cost R60 – they are available at all TicketPro’s 811 outlets nationwide, including at CNA, Postnet, Edgars and Jet stores.
