“We are glad to be back in Durban,” Steve Komphela said yesterday at a press conference in Durban. “There's an immense vibe here. The love that we get from Kaizer Chiefs supporters in KZN is amazing.”

The Glamour Boys are in Durban to play tonight their home Absa Premiership fixture against Baroka FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium (kick-off is at 19:30).

“The last time we were here we tasted victory,” added Komphela, referring to the 2-0 win over Ajax Cape Town in Durban a fortnight ago. “We want to taste the sweetness of victory again. We are ok and ready for the match.”

The match will be played at Chiefs’ alternative home ground, the Moses Mabhida Stadium. Last time there was an electric atmosphere with more than 40 000 supporters in attendance.

“We are coming at the back of having collected a point in the Soweto Derby last week,” Komphela reflected on the goalless draw on Saturday. “A point away is valuable, even though winning is in Chiefs’ DNA.”

“Baroka pose a threat,” the Amakhosi coach commented about tonight’s opponents, Baroka FC. “They are hungry and their coach Kgoloko Thobejane will be coming with the goal of causing an upset. But we are ready for any threats they will come up with.”

Chiefs are on an unbeaten run of six matches. They have also kept a clean sheet during this remarkable run of form.

“I'm glad to see the players, right from the strikers to the defenders, working so well for one another,” Komphela said about the clean sheets, before adding, “defenders win championships, while strikers win games.”

Chiefs are riding the crest of the wave and are in contention to win the first Q-innovation of this Absa Premiership season.
