Head Coach, Stuart Baxter, expressed optimism ahead of his side taking on Platinum Stars in Absa Premiership on Saturday, 21 September 2013, at FNB Stadium.
With pundits tagging the Amakhosi as blowing hot and cold in their opening games of the 2013/14 PSL season, a far cry from the side that dominated in the past season, Baxter said; “Last season we dominated from the word go. We occupied the top spot from the word go which is a rare situation in modern football. As things stand we are not repeating that because the other teams have woken up to the challenge and everyone has prepared so that they don’t allow the repeat of the last season.”
“I know I am capable and have a squad that is able to compete in the league. And where we are at the moment doesn’t say where we will end up at the end of the season. We are prepared and we will keep on fighting until the last match of the season.”
Speaking to media about the opponents that took from four points from last season, Baxter said; “They have been doing well so far in the league and have made several changes including a change of the Technical Team, which makes this encounter a different challenge from what we encountered last time around. We are involved in a back to back league and cup fixtures at the moment and we need to employ a few changes, maybe resting one or two players and bringing in some fresh legs on Saturday.”
Kickoff is at 20:15.
