New signing, Kingston Nkatha(26), has insisted that the team is fully focused on the objectives for the upcoming season, not the ‘past’.
The Zimbabwean-born striker, who has already earned the nickname ‘Cijimpi’ from kaizerchiefs.com, became the latest signing to join the Glamour Boys on a three-year-deal.
“It is a nice feeling, always difficult for anyone to put into words. It is a forward step in my football career and I cannot wait to pull on the gold and black jersey and repay the Management for the faith they have shown in my abilities as a player,” said the visibly delighted Nkatha on Thursday morning.
Nkatha, who has been capped 17 times (scoring five goals) by the Zimbabwean national team, revealed that the team is not under pressure following the exploits of Orlando Pirates in the past two seasons.
“It is very important that we focus on our goals. Our focus is to give our best to each and every game; take it one game at a time. We do not need to look at what the other teams are doing or what they have done in the past.
“We have set clear objectives as a team this season and this is what will be on our minds as we take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 and then AmaZulu in the first game of the Absa Premiership.
Nkatha, who joined Amakhosi from Black Leopards, has also played for Carrara Kicks and Free State Stars. “I am familiar with the surroundings here but it is going to be the first time for me to stay in Johannesburg. I am looking forward to making my stay here memorable.
"I also see this as a chance for me to win silverware. As a player it is important to win trophies, so that when you are retired you can look back at your career with a smile.”
