The Amakhosi will be travelling to Harry Gwala Stadium, on Tuesday night, to face Maritzburg United in the Absa Premiership league fixture. The Glamour Boys have been on a winning streak, clocking 9 wins in a row in the league. With their journey in the CAF Champions league having started last Saturday with a 3 – 0 first leg win over Black Africa FC of Namibia, the Amakhosi will be looking to switch their mind-set to the league with a trip to Pietermaritzburg.

Matthew Rusike, has not seen much of game time this season and will be one of the players who will be looking forward to get an opportunity to contribute to the Amakhosi progress in this congested fixture programme.

“Pressure comes with the territory. For a prestigious Club like Chiefs, pressure is one of the things that we have to deal with all the time. The games are coming thick and fast and that’s the challenge that we have to be prepared to face. As the players we are prepared to tackle the situation,” said Rusike.

“I was happy and excited to be part of the squad to play in the CAF Champions League game on Saturday. As you know the CAF games are a different ball game. We didn’t know much about the Namibians. I am glad I also got an opportunity to play a part in that game. The most important thing for us is to get a result at home, winning 3 – 0 was good for us going to the 2nd leg in Namibia,” commented Rusike.

“We are preparing to travel to Maritzburg United on Tuesday. It is another big game on the road. In the past Maritzburg have made it a habit to cause us problems, but we know what to expect from them this time around and we will take them on. We respect them as a good team especially that they have done well against us in the past. This time they find us in a good space, on a good run of winning games and sure that will give us an edge over our opponents. We are in a right state of mind,” continued Rusike.

I have been hampered by an assortment of injuries recently, which has cost me a place in the Team. At Chiefs we have such an abundance of quality that regaining a place in the Team has become difficult. I have been working hard though to regain my fitness and with the amount of games coming, every player knows that we must be ready to do the good job when called upon to play in the game,” said a highly motivated Rusike.

The game between Maritzburg United and Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday, 11th February 2014, at Harry Gwala Stadium will kick-off at 19:30.
