“We are looking good for Sundowns,” coach Steve Komphela comments after his charges completed their pre-match training session on Friday afternoon. “We expect a tough game. However, that’s normal. We expect a tough match every time we go to a match.” Kaizer Chiefs travel to Pretoria’s Loftus Versfeld Stadium to face Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday night.

“They are on top of the log at this stage,” Komphela notes, while referring to the Tshwane-outfit that is presently occupying the first spot on the Absa Premiership log with 59 points from 26 matches.

“We have this badge to defend,” Komphela continues, while pointing at the Chiefs badge on his trainer’s top. Then, he adds: “We have unfortunately lost the contest to defend the league title, but ambition is the founding principle of this Club.”

Amakhosi are at the moment in third spot and will aim to finish as high as possible on the log. The Glamour Boys are at present on 44 points from 26 matches.

“We will give it our best shot, hoping to collect the three points,” adds Komphela.

William Twala will return to the squad after having missed Wednesday’s Tuks match for having accumulated four bookings.

“Twala is ready for selection,” the Chiefs coach admits, “as is Tsepo Masilela, who missed the Tuks game due to an injury. Daniel Cardoso, meanwhile has shown improvement from the surgery he had on his hand. You can see that he’s really eager to play.”

The two powerhouses, Amakhosi and the Brazilians, played to a goalless draw when they met at the FNB Stadium in their first round league encounter.

“The mood in the camp is very high,” Komphela concludes with supreme confidence.

The game between Chiefs and Sundowns will take place at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, 30 April (kick-off is at 20:15).

Tickets for the match are sold at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide for R40.

Some of the Kaizer Chiefs players will be at the KC Retail Store at Pretoria’s Tramshed Shopping Centre, which is situated at the corner of Lilian Ngoyi and Francis Baard streets.

The supporters are encouraged to be at Tramshed between 09:00 and 15:00 to be able to enjoy a fabulous Amakhosi activation and to meet and greet the Glamour Boys.
