“We have the experience of having played in the final of the World Cup for Clubs,” says Raja Casablanca captain Mohamed Oulhaj ahead of tomorrow’s clash against Kaizer Chiefs. “We are not worried about anything.”
Amakhosi will host the Moroccan side at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium for the first leg of the CAF Champions League’s first round on Saturday evening (kick-off at 19:00).
Raja has been struggling a bit in the local Botola Pro League, being in fifth position at present. Oulhaj, however, is not worried: “This isn’t as a result of a lack of consistency. It has more to do with a few players leaving for Europe and the Middle East at the end of last season. The new players coming into the team are now starting to jell. We have been getting better and better as the season progressed.”
About Chiefs, the Raja captain comments: “We respect them, they are the log leaders in South Africa. But we will be ready come Saturday.”
Thursday’s press conference was held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. “South African soccer has grown a lot in recent years,” Oulhaj comments. “Looking through the window, I see a beautiful stadium, thanks also to the 2010 World Cup. We will take this came very seriously.”
“Kaizer Chiefs is a big club in South Africa,” adds Raja’s Portuguese coach José Romão. “Like Raja is in Morocco. We come here to win.”
