Bafana Bafana no. 1 goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune believes that the win against Ghana on Wednesday night is the start of good things for the national team.

Khune back in action after serving one match suspension was solid as ever at the back.

“It was a good feeling to be back in the team and also to keep a clean sheet,” said Spider Kid who was at the village early on Thursday morning for a training session with his Chiefs teammates.

“We played well last night and we were very organized at the back. It is important that we build from this performance. The qualifiers are going to be tougher but we will be ready,” he said.

The game against Ghana marked the first official game for Head Coach, Pitso Mosimane.

“It is good that there has been continuity in the coaching department and the Coach did not make many changes on how we play. He encouraged us to continue with the way we have been doing under the previous coach. This has brought stability in the team,” concluded Khune.

Meanwhile, Club Head Coach Vladimir Vermezovic believes that Khune has been justified in his role as one of the captains in the team.

Khune first wore the captain’s armband against Eleven Arrows and against last weekend in the Charity Cup semi final against Sundowns.

“Khune is one of the most committed players in the team who takes his job very seriously. He always gives his best for both the team and the national team.

He is already a role model to some of the young players and that is the reason he has been handed the captains armband in some of the preseason matches,” said Vermezovic.
