"We are still in the fight to win the league," says Edmore Chirambadare ahead of this evening’s Absa Premiership fixture against Golden Arrows. "It's going to be a tough game. We are working hard as a team and we feel strong. We are very focused ahead of the Arrows clash."
Amakhosi welcome Abafana Bes’thende at home, FNB Stadium on Saturday evening (kick-off at 20:15). With only four games to go, a win is top of the agenda in the camp of the Glamour Boys.
Kaizer Chiefs are placed fourth on the league table log with 46 points from 26 matches. We have not lost a home game this season, with the 13 matches having resulted in seven wins and six draws.
"We are aware of the talk about the league title race," adds Chirambadare. "People have the right to voice their opinion."
Some pundits tip either Bidvest Wits or Mamelodi Sundows as likely league champions.
But the Zimbabwean winger has a different view: "It’s not over until it’s over. Our goal is to deliver the goods on the pitch until the last game of the season and then we will see where we stand."
Chirambadare rates Arrows as a competitive side, "they play good counter-attacking football. We will be aware of that, while otherwise trying to dominate the match and play our own positive football."
Abafana Bes’thende are placed ninth on the Absa Premiership log with 31 points from 26 matches.
When the teams met earlier this season, Amakhosi claimed a 2-0 away win in Durban.
"We will do our best to make our supporters happy," concludes Chirambadare. "The supporters must come in their numbers to enjoy and watch us win tonight."
In head-to-head stats, Chiefs and Arrows have met in 31 league matches since 2000/01.
The Amakhosi have 18 wins compared to six for Abafana Bes’thende, while seven matches have been drawn.
