“The preseason camp went well. It gave us an opportunity to refresh our aims and objectives ahead of the coming season,” reflects goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse. Chiefs have just returned from a preseason camp held at the University of North West campus’ High Performance Centre.
“The camp is always good,” continues Pieterse. “We were able to restart our systems from where we left off last season.” Chiefs go into the new season as the league (Absa Premiership) and cup (MTN 8) double champions.
“Wrapping up camp with a game in Swaziland reminded us of the challenges that lie ahead,” adds Pieterse. “We are the hunted this time around.” Chiefs lost to Swaziland’s Mbabane Swallows on penalties in the King’s Super Cup.
“We remain focused on our aims and mission,” confirms Pieterse. “The preseason is an opportunity to work hard because we plan to fight for the titles. Our aim is to win as many games as possible.”
“The facilities in Potchefstroom were perfect, the gym and field were good for the preparations,” confirms Pieterse. “We returned sharper and strengthened.”
Pieterse shared a room with defender Lorenzo Gordinho. “We used the same room that the Spaniard David Villa used during the 2010 Fifa World Cup.” Spain used the same facilities during their triumph of winning the 2010 World Cup.
“The trip to Swaziland was a good experience and people were warm to us,” concludes Pieterse.
