Stuart Baxter gave his perspective on the Absa Premiership fixture that saw the Phefeni Glamour Boys, Kaizer Chiefs sharing the spoils with Bidvest Wits in an entertaining clash held at the FNB Stadium in Soweto on Saturday, 02 March 2013.

The hosts allowed Bidvest Wits to score first as early as the 10th minute of the game before the ‘Man of the Match’ for the second consecutive game; Siphiwe Tshabalala grabbed an equaliser 18 minutes later.

“I feel that we did not do enough to win the game. With the way we have played this season I feel that we should have done better playing at home.

“We knew that Wits will come with guns blazing having walloped them in the cup last week. We played in small patches and we were not aggressive enough.

Baxter was proud though with the spirit showed by his players in the closing stages of the game. Substitute Mandla Masango came agonisingly wide twice while Bernard Parker forced a save out of Wits goalie, Jackson Mabokgwane.

“The lads showed tremendous spirit in the second half and it is something we can take out of this game. We play each and every game to win and we have to bounce back from this performance when we face Chippa (United) in Cape Town on Wednesday evening.

I still believe in each and every player in the squad. The game against Chippa becomes a very important game and we will prepare as professionals like we have done all season.

Meanwhile, Stuart Baxter revealed that Tsepo Masilela will undergo a scan to determine the extent of the injury. The Kaizer Chiefs flying leftback was replaced in the second half by Keegan Ritchie.

“We will have the results on Tsepo (Masilela) soon,” said Stuart Baxter.

Kaizer Chiefs remain on top of the Absa Premiership standings with 43 points and the Head Coach will be hoping his charges give an improved performance in the upcoming away game.
