“Our supporters are coming to the party,” Willard Katsande points out, while looking ahead to tonight’s home fixture against Polokwane City.

The Amakhosi fans came in big numbers to the Cape Town game, with some 25 000 in attendance, creating a marvellous atmosphere.

“Playing is not about me,” the Zimbabwean midfielder added. “It is about team work. Also, our fans are so supportive. We form a team with our supporters.”

Katsande scooped his third Man of the Match award thanks to a brilliant performance in Kaizer Chiefs’ fourth straight Absa Premiership win this season. Amakhosi beat SuperSport United 2-1 at home at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday evening.

Amakhosi host Polokwane City in an Absa Premiership fixture at the FNB Stadium tonight, Tuesday evening, 23 February (kick-off is at 19:30).

The hard-tackling midfielder’s form has contributed immensely to Amakhosi’s third place on the Absa Premiership log with 38 points from 20 matches.

“We are looking forward to the match,” Katsande comments about the Polokwane clash, before adding a few words about the chances to retain the league title. “We want to go to the top. We will work hard to beat Polokwane and win the other remaining games. We take it one game at a time. That’s our focus.”

Rise and Shine are placed 13th on the league table with 21 points from 20 matches. City have conceded 33 goals so far in the league, which is the second most after the 39 conceded by Maritzburg United.

“We want to perform well for our supporters,” concludes the 30-year-old midfielder, “they really give us a boost when they turn up in numbers.”

Katsande has made a call to the fans to buy their match tickets on time at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide. Tickets cost R40, while tickets for children under the age of 12 are sold at R10 (as long as stock lasts).
