“We are going for maximum points,” Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela stresses after the team touched down at Cape Town International Airport.

“We are not holding any grudges that they beat us in a crucial match last weekend. We have come here to play a good game of football.”

Amakhosi visit Cape Town to contest the three points at stake in an Absa Premiership fixture against Ajax Cape Town at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday night (kick-off is at 20:15). The Urban Warriors beat Chiefs 1-0 in last Saturday’s MTN8 final.

“We are not making any radical changes,” confirms Komphela, “although Lucky Baloyi has been included in the travelling squad and will be in contention for a place in the team.”

When facing each other, Amakhosi have 14 wins compared to nine for the Urban Warriors. Nine matches have been drawn in the 32 encounters between the two since the 1999/2000 season.

Last season, the Amakhosi completed a league ‘double’ over the Urban Warriors by winning 1-0 at home and on the road.

Remarkably, Chiefs and Ajax have not played out a draw against each other in a league clash since the 2008/09 season.
