“We have to show more hunger against Polokwane,” says Siphiwe ‘Shabba’ Tshabalala, looking ahead to Sunday’s home match against Polokwane City at FNB Stadium. “With extra passion and commitment, we will beat them.”
The midfielder adds: “I would like to plead with our supporters to continue rallying behind the team. We will repay their faith in the team with good performances.”
Amakhosi played to a goalless draw against Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday. It extended the winless streak to nine.
Tshabalala wore the captaincy armband on the night with Itumeleng Khune on the substitute bench, as he’s nursing a slight injury.
“This situation has brought us closer as a team,” ‘Shabba’ says about the winless streak. “We are working together and supporting one another through this slump.”
Amakhosi are now in sixth position with eighteen points after thirteen games.
“We have to soldier on,” Tshabalala adds. “We must keep knocking on the door until we get the ball in the net. We are continuing to look for solutions. Sunday is another opportunity to get the win to keep up with the leading pack.”
Polokwane City are visiting FNB Stadium on Sunday, 18 December (kick-off is at 15:30).
“We are not happy with our situation,” admits ‘Shabba’. “We understand the frustration of our supporters and we take the stick for this situation. Feedback helps us improve.”
With Polokwane City showing good form and winning in their midweek match, Sunday promises to be another humdinger waiting to happen at FNB Stadium.
Tickets for Sunday’s match are on sale for R40 at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide.
