Bernard Parker has urged his teammates not to drop their heads following the draw against Bidvest Wits at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Parker was at his industrial self on Saturday forcing two saves from the opposition goalkeeper before earning himself a caution meaning he will miss the Wednesday trip to Chippa United in Cape Town.

“It is always disappointing not to be part of the team. I always want to play and help the team win games. I believe we have a big squad to do the business in Cape Town.

The player affectionately known as ‘Hond’ told kaizerchiefs.com that he and his teammates were disappointed with the result (1 all) against Bidvest Wits.

“We knew going into the game against Bidvest Wits that it was not going to be easy and even the Coach told us. We are disappointed with the result as we were playing at home. Each and every player goes into each game to give their all and it was no different today but luck was not on our side. We need to bounce back quickly.

Parker also added that his focus is on the team to win than the individual Top Goal Scorer Award; “I always put the team’s ambition first and I come second.”

‘Hond’ currently is top scorer with Katlego Mashego of Moroka Swallows and he has created five goals for his teammates this season; “I always go out to contribute to the success of the team and creating goals is another element of my game. I work on this as much as I work on scoring goals for the team.
