Itumeleng Khune made his official debut for the Amakhosi against Jomo Cosmos back in August 2007 and went on to become one of South Africa’s finest goalkeepers including being Bafana Bafana number one during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

He was appointed as the Captain of the Club back last year and on Wednesday he made his debut as the Captain leading the Glamour Boys out of the tunnel for the first time.

“It was an emotional moment for me. However I had to focus on the job at hand,” said Khune speaking to kaizerchiefs.com following a pulsating 1 all draw in Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

“We are all disappointed to not have won the game but we have a chance on Saturday to rectify our mistakes and return back to winning ways. We need to bounce back immediately.

The Glamour Boys welcome Moroka Swallows at Soccer City Complex, kick off at 18:00; "It is not going to be an easy game for us. Our opponents need points as much as we do. It is our first home game in 2012 and we are determined to keep our league record at Soccer City intact."

Khune who was playing his first game since October said he was satisfied with his contribution; “It was good to come back and play a competitive game after such a long time. Once again I need to pay tribute to Arthur Bartman who did tremendously well in my absence. I have big boots to fill but it is not all about me but the team. We all want to do well this season,” added Khune.
