Kaizer Chiefs defender Thomas Swswe is eager to face Tottenham Hotspur in the opening match of the 2011 Vodacom Challenge and has told kaizerchiefs.com that the Amakhosi could not be better prepared to face the English Premier League outfit.

Talking ahead of Saturday’s clash at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane a fired up Sweswe said, “We have done all the hard work to get into shape in the last two weeks.

"We could not be more ready to face Spurs, we are focused both physically and mentally, this is fundamentally our first game of the 2011-2012 season and we want to kick off the season with a win.”

According to Sweswe the game on Saturday is crucial for their overall plans and there will be no let up from the Amakhosi, “We will go flat out on Saturday, like we discussed with the coach we have the coming season in mind and this game is to get us better prepared for it.

"So we need to take this match and all our warm up matches seriously and give everything towards trying to win the game.”

The tough tackling defender further believes that the experienced gained from Saturday’s game will be valuable for the team as it will give them the opportunity to put into use all of the work they have done on the training ground in the last fortnight.

“We have the chance on Saturday to play against a team who like us are in a rebuilding phase and will want to get their pre-season off to a winning start.

"When you play your first game of the pre- season it will take a few minutes to get your rthyme going, the first few touches we have on the ball will be crucial for us as it will help get us up and running in the right direction.

Speaking from experience I can say especially for the younger guys in the team playing experienced opposition like Spurs helps you raise the level of your game.”

In concluding his discussion with kaizerchiefs.com Sweswe added that the Amakhosi will be looking to put on a good show for the fans in Polokwane.

“We played many games out there last season and I feel that getting to see us play a top class international team in their city is a good thing for the passionate fans in Polokwane.

"In my first Vodacom Challenge we beat Manchester City and lifted the trophy and I do not see any reason why we cannot do that again, hopefully we can begin this year’s challenge with a win.”
