“The win at Highlands Park is a good tonic for improving our performances,” reflects coach Steve Komphela after last night’s win over the Lions of the North. “From here on we have to further improve and be consistent.”

“We are winners,” adds Komphela, explaining what Kaizer Chiefs are all about. “However, we remain humble irrespective of the win. We know where we want to get to.”

This result was Amakhosi’s first win in the 2016/17 PSL season.

“The win over Highlands will bring confidence to the players,” continues the Amakhosi coach. “And, don’t forget the pride of the supporters - they deserve being able to smile'. Sure, the performance was not as crisp as we want it to be. We can never be satisfied, but a good result breeds improvement. We are also polishing the selection. Once we hit a consistent selection, we will get to perfect the type of play we desire.”

“I am proud of the lads,” concludes Komphela. “They show commitment and this augurs well for the future.”

Chiefs will welcome Maritzburg United in their next match. This encounter is scheduled to take place at the iconic FNB Stadium on Saturday, 24 September. Kick-off is at 18:00.
