Head Coach, Vladimir Vermezovic insisted after Tuesday evening's defeat to Black Leopards that the team still has a chance despite losing ground to the leading pack.

The Glamour Boys suffered their first defeat in 2012 despite putting visitors on the back foot from the first minute of the game.

“Once again we created a lot of opportunities to win the game. It was always going to be difficult to play the same team and beat them twice in a short space of time. We were convincing on Saturday and it showed today that in football there is no past - but the present and maybe the future,” said Vermezovic who congratulated Black Leopards on the hard fought victory.

Chiefs are now lying on fourth position on the Absa Premiership log table five points adrift of leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns who are in action on Wednesday evening.

“The most important thing will be where we are at the end of the season,” said the Serbian responding to the question on whether he was disappointed that the team ‘failed to close the gap on Sundowns’.

“It was our intention to win the game but things did not work out the way we had planned. One of our challenges is consistency and this is something that we have to address - not only the team but the players as individuals.

‘VV’ also backed winger Abia Nale who has shown glimpses of his best in the past couple of weeks, “He got an opportunity to start against Golden Arrows and did well. He got an opportunity against Leopards in the Nedbank Cup and came as a substitute against the same in the league; having not played for a while you can see that he is still getting to his best and I am satisfied with his contribution,”

The Glamour Boys are on the road during the Easter weekend visiting Platinum Stars on Saturday, 7 April 2012. Kick off for the game is at 20H15.

“We are back in training on Wednesday in preparation for the trip to Rustenburg. We are going to continue fighting. We strongly believe that we still have a chance. The supporters have been encouraging and we would like to urge them to continue getting behind the players,” added Vermezovic.
