“I am not looking at becoming the player of the tournament or the man of the match,” comments Kaizer Chiefs left-back Tsepo Masilela about Saturday’s sold out MTN8 Cup final between the Amakhosi and Orlando Pirates in Durban (Moses Mabhida Stadium, kick-off is at 20:15). “The team always comes first. If the team wins, I am happy.”
Saturday’s final will be Masilela’s second, as the reliable defender played in the 2013 Nedbank Cup final, beating SuperSport United 1-0 after extra time. Remarkably, that final was also played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. In that same 2012/2013 season, Kaizer Chiefs also won the league.
When asked about former Orlando Pirates coach Roger de Sa’s comments that the Buccaneers will surely win, Masilela calmly reacts: “I never react to statements or opinions of other coaches. We are ready and feeling confident. That’s all that matters.”
On the possibility to win another Cup title, Masilela reacts: “We want to taste again that feeling of winning another trophy. And when that happens, we want to do it over and over again. We want to see our supporters celebrating.”
