Kingston Nkhatha believes that Kaizer Chiefs were unlucky not to bag the full points during the Soweto Derby on Saturday, 9 March 2013 as they share the spoils with Orlando Pirates.
The Zimbabwean hitman who scored against Chippa United in a game prior to the derby was again at his usual self asking a lot of questions from the opposition defense until he was substituted in the second half.
“We went to the game to get full points and consolidate our position on top of the league standings. We had planned properly for Orlando Pirates and knew though that they are not an easy side to play against. They came with guns blazing as expected but we were unlucky not to win at the end.
“We managed to create chances and three good ones only for Senzo (Meyiwa) to stop us from a win. I think Pirates were lucky on the day. We just have to keep on working. The difference in points between us and the chasing pack is not that much and we cannot afford to rest on our laurels.
We have a Nedbank fixture this coming weekend and we will be turning our focus to that. In football we cannot take any opposition lightly and Polokwane City will get the same respect as any other team that Kaizer Chiefs plays against.
Nkhatha was substituted in the second half and replaced by Sthembiso Ngcobo; “Senzo hit me with his knee on my thigh and I thought the pain will go away in the second half. It did not go away and I was replaced. I was disappointed not to finish the game.”
