Goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo and defender Daniel Cardoso visited Kaizer Chiefs’ pop-up store at Midrand’s Vodacom World yesterday, posing with enthusiastic supporters for a picture and signing autographs.

Both are out injured at present, but about tonight’s clash against Free State Stars (kick-off at 20:15) they stressed: “We will be at the FNB Stadium as supporters.”

“Wow, this is beautiful,” says Cardoso, who was recently signed from Ea Lla Koto, when he enters the Chiefs shop. “That’s just what you need, a nice little shop where supporters can buy the Club’s new jersey, a cap or whatever else he wants.”

Khuzwayo nods when he hears his teammate’s comments: “This shows how we are moving forward as a Club. Besides the retail shops at the Village, we are now opening more shops, bringing the club closer to the supporters. Above all, this pop-up store is well positioned, at the home of our sponsor Vodacom.”

Cardoso’s eyes go to the new warming up shirt, which has the colour orange in it: “That’s so cool, I would certainly buy this as a supporter.”

Time for some pictures, one of them is with Motshabi Makau, a huge Amakhosi supporter who regularly attends the home matches. She particularly likes Khuzwayo, who is his charming self in his interaction with the supporters: “Brilliant is so tall. I like him, because he’s very smart, you can see it in the way he acts on the field. However, today I realize that he’s also very friendly.”

Cardoso and Khuzwayo are both recovering from injuries. The defender had a problem with his shin bone, while the goalkeeper broke two bones in his hand during a training session recently.

Wilhelmina Mphoshomadi is another firm Amakhosi supporter: “I am so happy to meet them. I like Daniel as a new signing. He will do well for us.”

About Chiefs’ pop-up store in Vodacom World, she says: “We are so excited that we are able to buy our merchandise close to home.”

Singo Hulisani fully agrees with Mphoshomadi’s sentiments: “We are very fortunate to have this shop in Midrand. I recently bought the historic 2014/2015 championship jersey.”

“It was great to meet Daniel and Brilliant,” he adds. “Khuzwayo is a fantastic goalkeeper, he has a great future at Chiefs and Daniel is a fine signing. He’s a good defender.”

The pop-up store’s opening times are as follows: Monday to Friday 09:00-18:00, Saturday 09:00-17:00, Sunday 09:00-14:00.
