“We will be going back to the drawing board,” Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela reflected after the two-all draw against Free State Stars on Wednesday evening. “We will review this season and will come back stronger next season.”
The draw means that Chiefs remain in fourth position on the Absa Premiership log going into the last game of the season against Chippa United at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 21 May (kick-off is at 15:00).
Komphela congratulated team captain Siphiwe ‘Shabba’ Tshabalala for reaching against Free State Stars the milestone of his 300th official appearance in the Amakhosi colours.
“I am happy for ‘Shabba’,” he said. “He is a true professional and he deserves this accolade.”
Tshabalala capped his milestone with a cool finish at the death, to salvage a point for Amakhosi on Wednesday night. Willard Katsande scored Chiefs’ first goal after a well-taken kick from the penalty spot.
