Stuart Baxter said on Wednesday that his side will do all they can to retain the Macufe Cup they won last year when they take on Bloemfontein Celtic this coming Sunday at the Free State Stadium.
Baxter will have to do without eight players who are doing national duty; six players with Bafana Bafana and two players with Zimbabwe national team.
“I would never tell the players to ‘take it easy’; the pride of the Club is always at stake whether we playing a league game or a friendly game. Kaizer Chiefs fans will come out in numbers and we will give 100% to win the game. Winning can be a good habit.
“Celtic playing in front of their home crowd will compete and show the same aggression they showed at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium last weekend. We are of course realistic and we would not want to risk injuries with tough encounters coming up immediately after FIFA week.
Due to the absence of eight players Baxter was forced to call up eight players from the Development to be part of the team in preparations for Macufe; “We had to fill the gap left by the eight players. I also wanted to see the players closely and work with them. We will have few of the players getting an opportunity to play against Celtic on Sunday.
“In the second half we will do some tactical changes and look at different tactical aspects of the game. We have goals going to this game and among them is to see how other players in the squad will do in a game situation,” added Baxter.
Kick off for the game is at 15:00.
