The Kaizer Chiefs players are still recovering from the 3-0 shock loss to Chippa United on Saturday. However, after a meeting on Sunday at the Village and some self-reflection, the team feels positive going into Sunday afternoon’s Absa Premiership match against Platinum Stars at FNB Stadium.

“We’ve a point to prove,” Daniel Cardoso assures the Amakhosi faithful. “We were lethargic against Chippa United. As players, we need to step up our game. We want to win Sunday’s game for our supporters, as we want to make them happy.”

About Saturday’s loss, the Chiefs defender adds: “The result was not only heart-breaking for our supporters, it was heart-breaking for us as well. We felt their pain. But it is important to realise that we form One Team, we need to stick together.”

Cardoso continues by pointing out that last Sunday’s meeting with the Football Manager, the technical team and the players “brought everybody together”.

Chiefs are in fourth position on the Absa Premiership log, having collected 39 points from 26 games, while Platinum Stars are in last position with 21 points from the same number of games.

Dikwene, as the Rustenburg-side is nicknamed, booked a rare win last weekend, beating 13th placed Polokwane City 2-0.

“They are fighting for survival,” Cardoso comments, “they are a good team and they will come out in attacking mood, as they have nothing to lose.

“But it’s a must-win game for us. We have four league games left and we want to win all our remaining matches. We owe this to ourselves and, above all, to our supporters. We want them to feel proud of their team.”

The clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Platinum Stars was initially scheduled to take place on Saturday, 14 April, but it has now been moved to Sunday, 15 April, with the kick-off time set for 15:00. The game will still take place at FNB Stadium.

Tickets sold for the game on Saturday will be accepted for entry at the match on Sunday. The tickets for the encounter between the two sides are sold at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers for R40.
