Amakhosi and Bafana Bafana midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala looked visibly disappointed after South Africa’s final group of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, despite defeating 1998 World Champions France 2-1 Bafana bowed out of the tournament.

The Chiefs winger left the tournament having used the World Cup to build a name for himself as he played in all three of South Africa’s matches and was one of the team's standout players at the tournament.

He spoke about the disappointment of the host nation having to leave the competition at an early stage and said.

“We were unfortunate that we did not get more than three goals that could have helped us progress, while we happy that we won a game at the World Cup and the coach was also pleased that we won it is still a sombre moment for us as we are out of the Competition”.

It is time now for Tshabalala to look forward and on the back of his World Cup performances there could be a host of teams abroad clamouring for his signature. He is focused on using the experience gained at the World Cup to help Chiefs be successful next season.

Of this he explained saying, “playing at this level and the competition and the teams that we were up against has helped us to compete at a higher level, hopefully from this I can go back to Chiefs and add more value to the team.

Also I would like to pass on whatever I have picked up from playing at the World Cup onto my team mates at club level”.

With the 2010 World Cup over for South Africa Siphiwe will be looked at as an integral figure to guiding Bafana into the next Africa Cup of Nations in 2012 and beyond and to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Once he has had the opportunity to rest, the Chiefs star says his focus will shift to next season as well as the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

“From this World Cup we know the kind of competition we are up against in the future.

We will definitely improve playing at the highest level which is the World Cup will help us, I do not see us having problems when we play in the qualifiers for the next nations cup”.
