The Soweto-born soft-spoken midfielder was speaking to kaizerchiefs.com ahead of the International Friendly match against neighbours, Namibia, at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Kick off is at 8:30pm.
“I am happy with my form. I think I have been doing well both at Club and national team level. I, however, respect people’s opinion that I have dropped standards. I have worked very hard this season but I am the first one to admit that I need to put in a lot extra to realise my dream of playing in the World Cup in the next few months,” he said.
“It is very important that I perform every time I get an opportunity to wear the national team jersey. The guys here feel that we need to continue doing well for the country, regardless of the opposition.
"A win is very important in terms of keeping the morale and confidence in the camp high.
"We did well against Zimbabwe in our last game and we need to continue against Namibia tonight (Wednesday),” continued the player, affectionately known in football circles as “Yeye”.
Letsholonyane feels that Namibia will not be a ‘walkover’. “They are coming here to fight and we know that we will have to raise our game to beat them tonight.
"There are no easy games at international level as players go all out in defending the national pride.
"There is no time left for us with less than 100 days to go before the World Cup. Every game is very important for us,” added Letsholonyane.
