The Kaizer Chiefs Development team begin the defence of their Gauteng Engen Knockout title this weekend when the 21st edition of this prestigious event takes place this weekend at Wits Marks Park.

Young Amakhosi are in fact the current holders of the national Engen Champ of Champs title as well, having won the 2022 finals tournament, representing Gauteng against the winners of all the regional Engen Knockout champions from around the country.

Run in conjunction with SAFA, the Engen Knockout provides invaluable experience for youth footballers and is an important stepping stone on the development path towards senior level.

Numerous Amakhosi stars came through the development ranks to be promoted to the first team squad, most recently Samkelo Zwane Mduduzi Shabalala and Wandile Duba, who all made contributions to last year’s triumph before making their marks in the Kaizer Chiefs first team.

This year, Young Amakhosi have been drawn with Joburg City, Tuks and Panorama for the group phase, which commences on Friday lunchtime, concluding on Saturday morning. The quarterfinals will be played on Saturday afternoon, with the semis and final taking place on Sunday.
