The Zimbabwean international whose previous outing was in a Nedbank Cup game against Nathi Lions in March explained to Kaizerchiefs.com that he is looking to start a fresh after not seeing regular game time for a lengthy period.
“Last season is gone by and when the new campaign kicked off I did say to myself that I was starting on a clean state, I am not thinking about the fact that I did not play that much last season. I had a good pre-season and I feel that things a looking positive for me.”
According to Jambo not playing in the latter stages of last season was challenging but as he explained he was able to keep his mind focused on the bigger picture, “when I was not playing I concentrated and focused on being ready for when I did manage to get back to playing again.”
As Jambo further explained he was not expecting to play against Ajax and it came as a surprise “I was told on Saturday morning to be ready I was not expecting to play, like I said before that I always ensure that when I am needed by my team I am able to step in and do a good job.
If I don’t play in ten games I must ensure that for the eleventh match if I am called up I do not let the team down.”
Jimmy’s wish is for the rest of the season is to be able to stay in good physical nick for the rest of the season, “I am hoping to play more regularly, and I also will look for some luck and hope that I do not get any injuries, staying injury free is one of my targets of the season.
In addition I know that I have to work very hard if I want to play because I am competing with an accomplished player in the form of Keegan Ritchie for the left back slot, I believe the competition between us is very healthy and good for the team.”
