“Only nine million people have access to private healthcare in South Africa,” Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung, pointed out “We are happy that we now have a partnership with a company that is willing to invest in South Africa.”
This was reiterated by Chairman Kaizer Motaung, who stressed that “today, it’s all about healthcare and it is something important for us. With Medshield we can try to help to enhance the lives of our supporters, who are close to our heart. To be honest, we wouldn’t have been where we are now without them.”
Medshield’s Principal Officer, Dr Stanley Moloabi, said that they have over 75 000 principal members and over 175 000 beneficiaries.
There are plans to set-up outreach programmes to make the medical scheme more accessible and affordable for the Chiefs supporters. “We are looking forward to having a positive impact in the community,” Jessica Motaung added.
“It’s a great beginning of a new partnership,” Siphiwe Tshabalala reflected on the launch. “It’s two fantastic brands coming together. It shows the value of the partnership - for the players and their families, the staff at the club and soon also for our supporters, offering them healthcare at a reasonable cost and educating them about the importance of healthy living.”
