The match was scheduled to take place at the Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg, but the Amakhosi have now opted to give their fans in the coastal city the opportunity to watch their team in action.

The Amakhosi who were defeated by Celtic when the teams met earlier in the season will be looking to turn around the 2-0 reverse they suffered back in November, and in turn will be hoping to extend their good run of results at the ABSA Stadium under Ernst Middendorp’s guile.

Since the German coach assumed the helm at Chiefs The Amakhosi have only ever been defeated once in seven official league and Cup games, played in Durban since the beginning of the 2005 – 2006 season. Included in the seven matches played in Durban in this time are two Cup Finals namely the ABSA Cup and SAA Supa8 which The Amakhosi emerged victorious, against the likes of Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United.

With a healthy record in Durban Ernst Middendorp and his charges would do themselves no harm in being confident of victory over Phunya Sele Sele, as Chiefs are yet to taste defeat at the ABSA Stadium in four official Cup and league games at the venue with Ernst Middendorp in charge.

In September 2005 the ABSA Stadium in Durban played host to Chiefs as they defeated Golden Arrows for the first time in a league match away from home, on that windy September evening Chiefs won the game 3-1. Since then Chiefs have had a love affair with the stadium and in addition to being successful on the field of play in Durban, The Amakhosi also garner huge support whenever they journey down to Durban.

There will be a strong Kwa Zulu Natal connection for Chiefs over the next fortnight in addition to hosting Bloemfontein Celtic in Durban; Chiefs will be facing against Kwa- Zulu Natal based team Amazulu on Saturday evening. This game will be played way inland at the Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg, with an evening kick off on Saturday.

When the teams met on the 6th December last year it was Chiefs who ran out winners by two goals to nil, with David Radebe’s first half goal and a second from Kaizer Motaung Junior in the second half sealing the win for Chiefs.
