Kaizer Chiefs players stand in solidarity with Bafana Bafana as they embark on another do-or-die mission against Cape Verde in the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast this evening.

The senior men's national team have experienced a remarkable journey in the Afcon tournament, reaching the last eight after a spectacular 2-0 victory over 2022 World Cup semifinalists - and number one ranked team in Africa - Morocco. Amakhosi are incredibly proud of the determination and resilience showcased by the team thus far.

Seasoned campaigner, Keagan Dolly, emphasised the unwavering support from the team as they head into the much-anticipated match against Cape Verde. "We believe that their exceptional performance in the tournament is a testament to their skill and dedication,” he said, “and we have every confidence that they can go all the way."

Kaizer Chiefs defender, Edmilson Dove, who recently came back after participating in his first Afcon with his country Mozambique, says the experience was great and every player would love to be on Africa’s biggest football stage.

“We would like to congratulate Bafana Bafana for reaching the quarterfinal stage of the 2023 edition of Afcon in Ivory Coast. We send them positive energy and hope they represent all of us in Southern Africa by going all the way, but first they have to deal with Cape Verde,” says Dove.

Mozambique were in the same group as Cape Verde, Egypt and Ghana. They picked up two points after drawing with Top 5 African ranked teams Egypt and Ghana, but lost to Bafana’s quarterfinal opponents, Cape Verde.

“We know it won’t be easy,” says the 29-year-old, ”but having watched the games I believe Bafana have what it takes to make it to the semifinals of the tournament by beating Cape Verde tonight. We are all behind them.”

Reflecting on the incredible run Bafana Bafana have had thus far, defender Given Msimango says, "We understand the significance of this moment for South African football, and we stand united in the belief that they can achieve greatness. We are looking forward to the semifinals against Nigeria next week."

Bafana Bafana will undoubtedly be motivated to surpass their most recent performance in the competition, aiming to reach the semifinals after bowing out in the quarterfinals in 2019. Amakhosi stand with team and are ready to cheer them on as they continue to make the country proud on the international stage.

Bafana take on Cape Verde at 22:00 (SA time) at Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast.

Let's go Bafana Bafana! We believe in you!
