Amakhosi Ready For The Brazillians
Kaizer Chiefs are keen to continue their good run of form in the league when they welcome defending league champions Mamelodi Sundowns to the FNB Stadium on Saturday, 1 April. The fixture between the two rivals will be the pick of the weekend’s Absa Premiership fixtures following the FIFA international hiatus.
“We are excited and amped up to welcome the Brazillians at home this Saturday,” says Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung. “Looking at the talk about the match across all media platforms and in the public, we are expecting an electric atmosphere from the thousands of supporters who will descend on the FNB Stadium.”
Amakhosi entered the enforced international break on the back of ten unbeaten matches and will be looking to resume the good form by collecting all three points at stake to remain in the PSL title chasing pack. However, Amakhosi will face a formidable opponent in the Brazilians, who would like to defend the league trophy and the fixture has all the ingredients of a crackerjack. Looking at the log, Amakhosi are lying fourth and have collected 36 after 21 matches this season. The reigning league champions, Sundowns, are occupying the fifth spot with 34 points.
“To ensure that excitment swells to a peak by kick-off time, together with our main sponsors Vodacom, we will host a roadshow in Soweto’s Jabulani Mall as part of our retail and insurance expansion on Friday, 1 April 2017,” says Motaung. There will be lots of fun, games and prizes for the supporters and shoppers from 11:00 to 16:00. The KC Retail mobile store will be on hand to assist supporters who would like to purchase genuine club merchanise. Supporters who purchase this season’s home jersey at a reduced R599 at our KC Retail Store will receive a pair of shorts and socks as part of the KC Retail’s special.”
Kaizer Chiefs’ mobile business, KC Mobile, will help supporters Connect4Life when they buy the KC Mobile Starter Pack. While Kaizer Chiefs Insurance will help supporters secure their family’s futures with KC Insurance products and services that will be available at the roadshow at the Jabulani Mall.
Kaizer Chiefs’ coach Steve Komphela comments about the Sundowns match: “Preparations have been going quite well with the players we have been working with during the FIFA break. The medical team has reported a clean bill of health with the expection of Brilliant Khuzwayo, who will be out of action for a number of weeks. It is also difficult when you have a break in the calendar and more so when four of our players were on national duty for Bafana Bafana with about seven fixtures in April. However, we will asses the players before we declare the bill of health ahead of the match.
“It should be noted that Bafana Bafana’s courageous efforts in the two recent friendlies against Guinea-Bissau and Angola were due in no small measure to the contribution of the sizeable Kaizer Chiefs contingent of Itumeleng Khune, Erick Mathoho, Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Lorenzo Gordinho within the squad, both individually and collectively. The national team’s improvement in the last number of games has sent a wave of positive optimism through the country and it will be important for the players to carry the experience into their league endeavours as the focus shifts to local affairs.”
The tickets for the match are sold at the Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide. The cost per ticket is R40 and R10 for adults and children respectively. Parking tickets can be bought at R30 for the designated parking areas around the stadium precinct.
“We are looking forward to an excellent match, highlighted by skilful and pulsating football,” concludes Motaung. “We have prioritised the importance of the fans and have made every effort to enhance their experience of the occasion. Therefore, we implore all supporters to please be safe, arrive early at the stadium and enjoy the entertainment before the match kicks off at 20:15.”
