The Kaizer Chiefs travel party arrived with negative tests in Angola but tested again for Covid-19 as required at the hotel. The team however were not allowed to train on Sunday as per the Ministry of Health instruction. The team was locked in the hotel under heavy supervision.
The team only trained on Monday afternoon at the match venue, which is the 11 de Novembro Stadium in Luanda.
Captain Ramahlwe Mphahlele believes his team is ready for the match and will do their best to win the match under the circumstances.
“We have been training throughout the festive period to make sure we are prepared for the match,” says Mphahlele. “We know it is going to be challenging but we will do our best to ensure that we proceed to the next round of the CAF Champions League.
“I believe we should have really won the game in Johannesburg, but we missed great opportunities. We have guys who are capable of scoring and we will be looking at them for answers on Tuesday afternoon as our wish is to advance to the group stages.”
The team is ready, and the spirit is high in spite of the harsh and unbearable restriction they’ve been subjected to in Angola by the country’s Ministry of Health.
Kick off for the match is at 16:00 in Angola (17:00 in SA).
