Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp made clear to his team in a pre match talk earlier on Wednesday that nothing else but victory will suffice, when they take on Amazulu in a league encounter later on Wednesday. The Chiefs headman is looking forward to his team putting in the same kind of efficient and workman like performance, which saw them easily dispose of Black Leopards in their last league outing on the 25th of November.
The Chiefs coach has not had the luxury of being able to select the same starting eleven who came back from Thoyandou with three points, as he had to make three forced changes from the 3-1 win against Black Leopards. Out of Wednesday evenings game is captain Cyril Nzama who is sidelined with a hamstring problem, which he picked during training about a week ago.
Nzama’s leadership duties will be fulfilled by Fabian McCarthy who has regularly deputized for Nzama in recent times; the Chiefs stand in captain is wary of Amazulu but does feel that Chiefs will be able to record their third league victory on the trot. “The coach has laid down the gauntlet and we know that winning this game will take a strong team effort, if we work together and make the most of our chances in front of goal I feel we will come home the victors” said McCarthy.
Ernst Middendorp has refused to be drawn into talk of Saturday’s game against Pirates, instead wants to keep his and his teams attention on a victory in Chatsworth on Wednesday evening. The Chiefs coach added “we need to be as ruthless in front of goal against Amazulu in the same way that we were against Black Leopards, we will be looking for the same kind of result like we achieved against Leopards”.
Further changes to the Chiefs line up sees Patrick Mayo and Shaun Bartlett both of whom were on the score sheet against Leopards out of Wednesday’s game, Mayo sits out the Amazulu game as he is serving a suspension.
Shaun Bartlett, who opened the scoring for Chiefs in the win against Black Leopards, misses the game through injury after he had some damage done to his ankle during the Leopards game. Shaun Bartlett’s place in the starting line eleven has been filled by Kaizer Motaung Junior, while Mayo has been replaced by Siphiwe Mkhonza.
In midfield Siyabonga Nkosi returns to take the place of Scara Ngobese as Ernst Middendorp goes all out for a big win against Amazulu, currently at the foot end of the log standings. Joining Nkosi in midfield is Gerald Sibkeo the diminutive former Kaizer Chiefs youth player will slot into a central midfield role, while Ditheko Mototo moves into defence.
