The young children who walked hand in hand with the players onto the field before the match are as much a part of the spectacle as the epic action on display.
It was one of the biggest and most anticipated experiences not only for the children but also for the parents who accompanied their broods.
The youngsters were invited to a day of fun-filled activities and surprises. The day started with the training of walking onto the field of play with their heroes, lead by a Kaizer Chiefs staff member.
"It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing," Tyrique Fish said shyly after the dry run at Soccer City. "No one ever gets to do it, really."
His father who is a staunch Amakhosi supporter added: “We have been talking about this the entire week,” he said with a smile on his face.
"Being in the stadium, watching him walk out of the tunnel with the players is awesome. But for him to experience that, it's just something he’ll never forget. That's definitely going to be the best part."
The young Fish secured himself and 10 of his friends this opportunity by winning the Kaizer Chiefs Gaming competition that took place during the Derby press conference on March 2, 2017 in Randburg.
This KC Experience was his grand prize but he also walked away with a new smartphone and 50Gigs of data courtesy of Vodacom and KCMobile on the day.
