“The day went according to plan and I am grateful to have been part of the excitement on the ground,” Motaung reflected between her engagements on the hype of activities at the activation.
“I am glad that We are Back in KZN, the people here are amazing and filled with love,” continued Motaung. “It’s great that we are opening our store at Mega City Mall. This is part of an expansion programme of our properties around the country. The activation went well too. However, most important for us is to have an impact on the communities here.”
Amakhosi flags were hoisted high and the supporters were treated to various festivities, including a music show by renowned artists that was headlined by songstress Babes Wodumo. Actor MasterMind of Uzalo was also in the house.
“Chiefs are synonymous with community work,” Motaung pointed out, while she was inundated by cheering Amakhosi supporters with some asking to shoot selfies with her.
“The sanitary products drive for the girls is one of our focus areas and we are glad to receive such a response,” said Motaung. “The Mayor has been active from the moment we started planning for these activities. The Mayor was present in our Kaizer Chiefs Insurance store to witness the launch and that was very gratifying.
“We want to leave a legacy wherever we go. And, through these stores (in Port Elizabeth, Rustenburg, Alexandra, Johannesburg CBD and Soweto) we will be offering an array of other accessories which is an addition to the usual KC experience.”

On Saturday, Chiefs host Baroka FC at Moses Mabhida Stadium, which Amakhosi’s alternative home venue.
“The mood ahead of tonight’s match is exciting and electrifying,” Motaung said about the Absa Premiership fixture.
Teenage Radebe, Emmanuel Letlotlo, Sibusiso Khumalo and Willard Katsande won’t play a role in Saturday night’s match due to a variety of reasons, but they did participate in the activations on Friday.
“Wow! The players really had a good time with the supporters and they shared and enjoyed some Love & Peace,” remarked Motaung. “The interaction with the supporters was fantastic. I am happy that we are still breaking new ground in collaboration with our partners and other stakeholders.”

Supporters Thabo Nene, Jabu Sibiya & SiPhumelele Kaula from Lamontville Branch walked away with prizes. “We heard that Chiefs is coming to town to launch the store and we rushed to Mega City to be part of it,” they reacted excited.
“We are happy to see the players and to be able to take pictures with them and that makes us feel special. The event was joyous and this shows again how Chiefs really cares for its supporters and the people in general.”
“We bought KC Mobile Starter Packs so that we can have an advantage and get Chiefs updates,” Thabo Nene added. “We won match tickets and some merchandise. We will forever cherish this.”
Motaung was gracious about the collaboration that Amakhosi enjoyed with its partners and the Durban City Council. “I would like to thank everybody that came to the party,” she concluded. “The Mayor and her team, the artists and the celebrities made this day memorable. To our Marketing Team, the work you have put in to make this into such a successful event is simply amazing. We will continue to work hard to keep up this iconic Brand.”
