SuperSport, who launched their ‘Let's Play’ project just over a year ago aim to encourage children around the country to participate in sporting activities, by informing them as to where they can go and get involved with participating in various sporting codes.
Vaughn Bishop of SuperSport was grateful that Chiefs allowed the striker to take time out to lend his support to the new initiative as well as adding a voice to the ‘Let's Play’ project.
Bishop said: “it is wonderful for us to have Shaun come out and support our teaming up with UNICEF, and to have a professional sports man encouraging kids to get involved in sport will give them extra motivation to want play."
SuperSport’s ‘Let's Play’ initiative has enjoyed major success since its initial launch, with more than 300 000 children currently benefiting from its weekly activation strategies.
Shaun Bartlett has welcomed the fact that he was able to be a part of the coming together of Unicef and SuperSport, and is confident that with the assistance of the global body the project will go from strength to strength.
“I will always support project like the ‘Let's Play’ initiative for the simple reason that it encourages children to be active. Apart from that it goes to a further extent of assisting in them is showing them where to get involved in some sort organized sport, any project that goes out to help the youth of our country must be complimented for their hard work."
In May this year the SuperSport - Unicef partnership will kick into gear with a telethon campaign entitled ‘Lets Play a million’, the campaign aims to raise money to establish a fund for the development of sports and recreation infrastructure in rural and peri- urban communities around the country.
