The coach was speaking at the launch of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season on Monday afternoon. The ceremony with was attended by three other PSL clubs took place at the Absa Contact Centre in Auckland Park.
“We have done a lot of work, on and off the pitch,” said Middendorp, six days ahead of Amakhosi’s opening fixture, “We have to recognise that for the past few months we had a problem with injuries. That impacted negatively our intentions. This time we have it all worked out. I anticipate good performances this season.”
Kaizer Chiefs will open the season with a short trip to the East Rand to face Highlands Park.
“We worked with the individual players in the past two months to get everyone up to speed,” he added. “We respect Highlands Park because they are a good side, but we collected four points from them last season. They do lots of things right and so it will be a tough game on Sunday.”
The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 4 August at Makhulong Stadium, Tembisa. It will kick off at 15:00.
“Our preparations have gone according to plan,” said Bernard Parker who also attended the launch. “We had a good camp, the kind we have not had in a long time. We want to start strong. From the start to the final whistle, we want to start and finish strong in every game we play this season.”
Tickets for the match are sold at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide. Cost per ticket is R40.
