No wonder that all the local journalists wanted to talk with Billiat after the match, who is immensely popular in Zambia.
“We didn’t come here to lose,” he admitted to the reporters. “Of course, it’s a great feeling to score, but it would have been an even better feeling if we would have won or we would have gotten a draw.”
Billiat was obviously not happy with the loss, but he is optimistic that “we will do better on Saturday”, when the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup pre-group stage round at FNB Stadium will be held.
The Zimbabwean internationally actually put the ball into the back of the net for the second time in the second half. The referee seemed to give it until he spotted the linesman raising the flag. Billiat felt afterwards that he wasn’t offside.
Queried if he would like to score again, the attacker reacted, “I would like to. But it’s not so important if I score, it’s more important that we will go through as that’s what we all want.”
Interesting fact – Billiat didn’t score in Sundowns’ 2-0 win in the second leg and that scoreline would be enough to help Kaizer Chiefs reach the group stage.
It means that we will be in for a cracker of a game come Saturday, 19 January, at FNB Stadium (kick-off at 20:00).
Tickets for this second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup pre-group stage round are already on sale at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers at R40.
