Chiefs visit Chippa United in a Nedbank Cup semi-final clash at Port Elizabeth’s Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. This marks the fourth consecutive semi-final appearance in domestic competitions for Amakhosi and they will be looking to go all the way this time around.
Bvuma, who featured in the wins over The Magic FC and Cape Town City, acknowledges the difficult task ahead as the season winds down.
“We understand the task at hand and know exactly what to do for a place in the final of the Nedbank Cup. That is the only goal in our mind and the technical team has prepared us well for this match to achieve it,” continues the shot-stopper.
Chippa, who Chiefs will face again on the last day of the league season, are in the relegation zone and will prove to be an unpredictable opponent on Saturday.
“It won’t be easy, neither the cup fixture this weekend nor the league encounter that’s still to follow. Chippa is a team that’s fighting relegation and should their premiership aspirations falter, a cup win would be worthy consolation for them.”
The last result between the sides was a goalless draw at Moses Mabhida Stadium in November 2018.
Asked which of the other semi-finalists between Golden Arrows and TS Galaxy he prefers to face, should Chiefs prevail to the final, Bvuma responds with a laugh, “whichever team wins”.
While several of his teammates have enjoyed the taste of silverware at Chiefs, the young goalkeeper will be aiming for his first major trophy with the Glamour Boys.
Kaizer Chiefs face Chippa United on Saturday, 20 April 2019 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Kick-off is set for 20:15. Tickets can still be purchased via TicketPro, Spar, CNA and Jet outlets.
