After two weeks of no action, Kaizer Chiefs are back on the pitch this evening to take on Lamontville Golden Arrows in another important DStv Premiership fixture.
The two teams meet for the first time this season as Chiefs were unable to honour the fixture scheduled for December 2021 after a massive Covid-19 outbreak that forced Amakhosi’s Naturena base to shut its doors. The match will now be played later following the arbitrators ruling last night.
Amakhosi beat their biggest rivals Orlando Pirates 2-1 in their last game which took place a fortnight ago at Orlando Stadium. Just like Pirates, Arrows also suffered a 2-1 defeat against Chippa United in their last encounter on 6 March.
Chiefs are 3rd on the log standing after 19 matches with 35 points in the bag. Arrows are in 11th position with 25 points after 20 outings.
There are two changes in Chiefs’ line up and even more changes on the bench. The starting team will see Bruce Bvuma replace the injured Brandon Petersen in goals. In attack, Chiefs will see Samir Nurkovic replace Lebogang Manyama.
Chiefs will adopt a 3-4-3 formation for this clash.
Bruce Bvuma who’s been called up to the national team takes his position in goals.
The defending team will be Daniel Cardoso, Soweto Derby’s goal scorer Mulomowandau Mathoho and Njabulo Ngcobo.
Another Derby goalscorer Reeve Frosler is on the left of the midfield, Bernard Parker and Phathutshedzo Nange are in the middle of the park, while Njabulo Blom will run on the right of the midfield.
The attack will see Keagan Dolly on his usual right, Nurkovic on the left and Khama Billiat will lead the attack.
The last match’s man of the match Parker wears the captain’s armband.
The referee is Abongile Tom. His first assistant is Zakhele Siwela and the second one is Nhlakanipho Twala. The fourth official is Jimmy Kgaphola.
The match between the Phefeni Glamour Boys and Abafana Bes’thende will kick off at 19:30 at FNB in Nasrec. No spectators will be allowed in the stadium. The game will be live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv, with live commentary on various SABC Radio stations. There will also be regular updates of the match on Twitter @KaizerChiefs.
